Highlighted Text Not Populated into Search Box When Default is Text Editor

My user defaults to the text editor in WordPress. When highlighting text and then clicking the [link] button, the Search Box is not auto-populated with my highlighted text.

If I switch to Visual Mode and then back to Text Mode, it then suddenly starts working!

The plugin also always works in Visual Mode.

No errors are shown on the console.
