Selection on bar charts

Is there a way to do something similar to pie chart's onSliceClick for bar charts and stacked bar charts? I'm new to the library so could easily be missing it if it's there, If it is missing, I can create an issue for onBarClick (or some better name) and would be willing to work on a PR to provide it if that's welcome.

Closest thing I can find is to piggy-back BarPlotData class' SelectionHighlightData mechanism. But that seems buggy, as one click on one bar causes 3 invocations of SelectionHighlightData method groupBarPopUpLabel, one for the selected bar and one for each neighbor (seems like a bug). So without changes its not usable for onBarClick . Maybe the current selection feature works better on bigger bars with separators between, but my stacked bar chart has many narrow bars with 1.dp separators. In that usage the selection feature is poor-to-unusable.

Hi @skolson, thanks for reaching out, as of now, there is no similar callback like onSliceClick for Bar Charts/ Grouped Bar Charts.
SelectionHighlightData is used to show individual/group selections with a label-highlight attached to bars, and there are a couple of bugs in SelectionHighlight which are being fixed at the moment along with some enhancements, but having a onBarClick makes sense, which would give the user the ability to show selections on their own, if they don't want to use SelectionHighlight.

You can go ahead and create the issue! this is a community driven project, and all contributions are welcome and are appriciated :) you can raise a PR, and tag @kikoso , and me @codeangi for the PR and we'd be happy to review and onboard your feature!

Cool, I'll start an issue and will start work on a PR. FYI my use case for onBarClick is to navigate to a different screen based on the bar clicked - drilling down to detail so-to-speak, I do the same in pie/donut charts with onSliceClick and it works great. I'll mention that use case in the issue for additional context.

A new issue is created for this.
If anyone has thoughts on what should happen if both onBarClick and selectionHighlightData are coded on the same bar chart, please post them on the new issue. Maybe use a long click to access the selectionHighlightData? I dunno, haven't thought it through :-)
