Type of economy, SME (business, marketing, urban study, etc.), CCTV (example of security analysis) ** Population / movement pattern forecasting** - impact case |
@matkoniecz Where could we find the open data of business operation times? |
survey, government data, https://github.com/alltheplaces/alltheplaces and OpenStreetMap were my initial thoughts As usual walking around and collecting data is doable but it is extreme cost even for small town. Is there maybe some health inspection data that collected also opening hours? Seems unlikely. See https://openingh.openstreetmap.de/?zoom=16&lat=52.77362&lon=-1.21366&layers=B0T&filter=none&tags=opening_hours for visualisation of Lboro opening hours data in OSM. https://www.alltheplaces.xyz/map/#13.65/52.76913/-1.20551 ATP has a bit (note that not all nodes are having opening hours data, independent shops are not included, you can click on orange dot and check is opening_hours field there) In case of some chain being identified as missing in ATP - and having own website listing their locations - it can be reported as missing and there is chance of being added. |
@matkoniecz I will see OSM first and how to derive the opening time (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:opening_hours) Also, if the data is collected via Google Maps exploring (looking at) the town centre online, is it okay to map the data on C.L? (license) |
It definitely violates Google's terms of use and they do not give permission to do this. Distributing it on ODBL license like CL does would be quite dubious. If you ask about looking at Google Street View: it definitely violates Google's terms of use and they do not give permission to do this. But here it is more dubious whether Google has right to do this. But I ma not looking for legal dispute with Google. warning: I am not a lawyer. |
Yes agree we shouldn’t be accessing data from any commercial unless they have specifically released under open licences |
I used Overpass API from OSM, https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API/Overpass_API_by_Example Bounding Box from: https://tools.geofabrik.de/calc/#type=geofabrik_standard&bbox=5.538062,47.236312,15.371071,54.954937&tab=1&proj=EPSG:4326&places=2 OSM covers Loughborough's 165 business cases out of 650 cases in NNDR (We should think about how to collect the data). |
