    Seattle Biomedical Research Institute: April 2011 - Present

    • Rolled out RVM and Puppet for all CentOS 5 and Ubuntu hosts, enabling us to upgrade to the latest version of Puppet.
    • Maintained repository of Puppet manifests.
    • Implemented logstash, graylog2, and elasticsearch for logging infrastructure.
    • Deployed mcollective for control of entire fleet of UNIX machines.
    • Overhauled monitoring infrastructure with Opsview and automatic Puppet registration with Opsview via the Opsview REST API, as well as with collectd and graphite, for plotting system stats.

    Blue Box Group: September 2010 - April 2011

    • Provided Tier 3 support for large, high value customers.
    • Introduced various incremental improvements for the infrastructure, such as Ruby/shell script automation and Chef automation, and assisted with tier 1/2 tickets.
    • Setup chef-server deployments for customers who needed a fully automated multi-tiered infrastructure.
    • Contributed code upstream for Chef, libcloud, and fog on behalf of Blue Box Group.
    • Maintained open sourced Chef recipes for the company on GitHub.
    • Automated several dedicated machine bootstrap components with Chef, such as automating OpenVZ installations, MySQL installations, etc., which saved several hours of time for large customer deployments.
