error creating content with news plugin #3

I got this error in error.log and white page in BE

Unsupported operand types in /var/www/html/htdocs/SpecialityDistribution/typo3conf/ext/eventnews/Classes/Hooks/BackendUtility.php on line 47, referer: http://url/typo3/sysext/cms/layout/db_new_content_el.php?id=250&colPos=0&sys_lang ecc ecc

same here on TYPO3 6.2.12+php 5.6

why not just try

$params['dataStructure']['sheets']['sDEF']['ROOT']['el']['settings.eventRestriction'] = $eventRestrictionXml;
