Last Friday @johnparkin28 made the point that cycleway is an appropriate name for protected cycle paths, aka in our legend 'Track'. For reasons that relate to how language can be used to promote cycling, I suggest we change this to Cycleway:

Same here, with the suggestion being to change Cycle Track to Cycleway in every instance:

Cycleway is a bit of a vague term, except for experts who understand the exact definition. Segregated cycleway (or Protected cycleway) would be much less ambiguous and be clearer to both expert and general public users.

-1 for Segregated, +1 for Protected, with a big +1 for replacing Track with Cycleway.

I'd prefer just Cycleway at this stage as it's mostly used to represent shared-use footways. Differentiating between these should be tackled separately, and only once that's done might Protected cycleway become apt.

Cycleway means something different to shared-use footway. Other people think an on-road cycle lane is a cycleway.

This demonstrates exactly why the term is vague and should not be used on its own.

I agree Track should be replaced - that really could mean absolutely anything.

If the data coming from OSM is (currently) vague then surely Cycleway is appropriate, for now at least?
