The interaction between the keyboard and the spellers in the mobile keyboard is not always clear, especially since the speller is always giving suggestions. And because writers of indigenous languages often are unsure of the correct spelling, it would be useful to give feedback to the users that what they have written as a word so far is a correct word (as compared to an incomplete or incorrect word).

Exactly how this should be best done is not clear to me, but as it is now, we notice that people are often confused: «I think this is correct, but still the speller suggests other words?»

We are getting more feedback that this is important. We need to work out something for both Android and iOS, and prioritise this improvement - it will help users a lot.

My suggestion: green background if the word you have written is an existing word, and red background if not.

That is problematic for colour blind people, so at least we need something in addition to the colours.
