The linked ESp8266 unit is no longer available. Will any equivalent unit work like https://amzn.to/3Yp8m9b ? Also I’m looking for a different sourde than AliExpress. So life of me i cannot get a transaction to go through due to their fraud detection and their support is of no help 🤦♂️ |

can you share the pin out configuration from the ACC port on the Airzone splitter? It’ll be helpful to know it exactly. I couldn’t make out fully the wire colors from the photo in the original post. Update: Also, can you confirm if you’re using the AZ port or the ACC port? I realize after I posted my original question about the Pinout I wasn’t sure. Currently I have the MKH2 red link receiver connected to AZ but in looking at your photo is seems you have it reversed |

@skyw33 @mrmattyq I've been fighting buying the ESP01 modules, but looks like I have no choice now :) Do I need both these things? I thought ESP01 was a wifi module based on ESP8266 SoC, but it appears the guidance is to connect these things together but i may be misunderstanding: Assuming it's correct I need both those things, the bew newbie question here is how I connect via usb to these boards at all? With my ATOM S3 and Wemos D1 there was a usb cable. Do I need to buy one of these ESP-01 USB programmers? |

THANK YOU to everyone who commented in this thread. Finally got all my parts in and used the ESP-01 like everyone else mentioned. It was the only one I could get to work with the Airzone CN105. I now have it working to control via Home Assistant through ESPHome, and also have an MKH2 Thermostat as a fallback (a) in case HA is every down for some reason or (b) someone in my household just wanted something physical to use. |

Works with my multi-split-system composed of a ducted air handler (SVZ-KP30NA) + wall mounted mini split (MSZ-FS09NA) on one 48k BTU outdoor unit (MXZ-SM48NAMHZ2) I too am using an airzone splitter and ESP01 and my only issue is the current temperature and desired temperature on my MHK2 is off by 1 degree F from home assistant. I am not using remote temperature on home assistant. |

Mitsubishi Ducted Heat Pump System
OUTDOOR unit: PUZ-HA42NKA1
INDOOR unit: PVA-A42AA7
Thermostat: Mitsubishi MHK2 Wireless Remote Controller
Airzone CN105 WiFi Splitter
https://gotductless.com/products/airzone-aidoo-cn105-splitter-for-mitsubishi
I use the MHK2 as my thermostat and then I use ESPHome to control the unit from home assistant. https://github.com/echavet/MitsubishiCN105ESPHome
Both the MHK2 and the ESPHome unit connect to the splitter, while the splitter connects to the CN105.
Theoretically, I could get rid of the Wifi Splitter and MHK2, but I'm hesitant to do so because my understanding is that the MHK2 has smarts that are better able to control the mitsubishi heat pump.
I'm using these ESP modules:
ESP01 adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09S11Q4TL?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
ESP8266 ESP01 module: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EA3UJJ4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
And this CN105 cable:

In the picture below you see the wifi splitter with 3 connections. From left to right: cable to CN105, cable to ESP8266, cable to MHK2.
Note for the ESP8266 cable that the purple wire is not used. Green=GND, Yellow=VCC, Red=TX, Black=RX
