Stakeholders have requested that we add either item-specific or generic thumbnail icons for records in the catalog.

  • Implement a solution that incorporates available thumbnail images for individual records
  • If vendor-supplied thumbnail is not available, use one of the generic icons as specified below, mapping to our Resource Types facet values.
  • Implement new page layout for search results
  • Implement new page layout for single item view

See prior research ticket #69 for options to get vendor-supplied thumbnails.

@rotated8 @lovinscari What API should I use to retrieve images for thumbnails for documents? The report attached to this research ticket does not include any final decision on which API to use exactly. Thanks!

@abelemlih - I think we should go with the Google Books API @bwatson78 found to be the most stable in ticket #69. Let me know if you need any other details.
