Just a random thought: Currently, each client calculates the consensus on its own on the client side. Instead, it would make more sense to calculate the consensus only once on the server side and then propagate it to each client.

We don't need to refactor this in the context of this bug, but I wanted to take the opportunity to write down this thought.
