I have recently switched to Wayland and I think that is probably related.

If your error is caused by switching to Wayland then it's probably caused by the x protocol to Wayland adapter, xwayland. It might make more sense to look into how wine interacts with xwayland rather than posting an issue here.

Most likely. We don't have any other place where we are actively tracking bugs and we don't usually post them to WineHQ until we have done more digging. I haven't seen this issue besides when I posted this error.

We have a number of errors we've kept open in Github for the purpose of gathering data, and in the event we need to add something to the wine bottle we create during install.

It's also helpful to have these open for others, who tend to think they are the first to discover an issue.
