Object editor doesn't work in latest version #6
Comments
Okay, I'll take a look at it when I get home from work, though I don't know what would have changed. The game hasn't updated recently according to steamdb.info. If it still works fine for me, would you be able to post a video of what you're doing showing the problem you're having? |
Okay, actually I can confirm that the problem is happening for me as well. Turns out what changed was that Cheat Engine was updated. There's actually a release, 6.5.1, that says it fixes some Lua incompatibilities, but it doesn't fix this. Maybe Dark Byte (CE developer) didn't catch all of them. I'm going to wait to see if there's another bugfix release before I really look at this, since in the mean time there's an easy workaround: use Cheat Engine 6.4. If that doesn't work, let me know and post a video of the problem, because downgrading to 6.4 fixed it for me. |
thanks |
I'm trying to spawn objects like goal rings, emerald shards, enemies and so on, but the spawn object button doesn't place anything at all. Using CE 6.4 didn't remedy it either. |
@3030sonic Can you please describe everything you're doing? |
Opening the sonic2app.ct file. Then, selecting the sonic2app.exe process in CE. Then in the little window that pops up, Object Editing, then Place Objects, then Enable Object Placement, then Common Objects, then just selecting something to place, then checking Use Player/Sel. Rot., and clicking Spawn Object. Nothing happens most of the time ("most", as in, it will randomly decide to let me place a few enemies or rings, but little else). |
@3030sonic One thing I'd try is unchecking Use Player/Sel. Rot. Some objects use rotation values for other things; I don't know if any of the objects you mentioned do that but it's worth a try. Also try not clicking Enable Object Placement; that button's old and no longer needed. It's possible it might ironically prevent it from working. I doubt that's the case, but it couldn't hurt to try. If that's what fixes it I'll remove that button right away, since it would do more harm than good to have it there. |
No luck with doing any of that, either. |
@3030sonic Okay, then can you please make a video showing what you're doing, and what works and what doesn't? |
Just finished uploading; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPRhtjVWKKY here. |
@3030sonic: The object placement is working fine. The issue is with the particular objects you're selecting that don't work. Spawning the "emerald shard" object doesn't actually place an emerald shard immediately; it's simply there as a marker to tell the game, when the level loads, that that's a place an emerald shard can go. I should probably make that more obvious. I think the reason I put it in the list is so you can spawn some, and export a SET file, to add new shard locations. The goal ring isn't appearing because goal rings don't appear in emerald hunting stages. There is in fact a goal ring object in the stage, yes, even before you spawn one, but it doesn't appear unless you do the 100 rings or lost Chao missions, in which case it appears as a BACK ring. Try placing a goal ring in a Sonic/Shadow/Tails/Eggman stage; it should work. |
I've got the latest revision of the cheat table, and any objects I spawn do not appear in the "spawned objects" list. Also when using that menu to load a csv file it spawns a single object then stops. That object isn't displayed in the list either. If you can't reproduce it yourself I'll provide more details.
edit: Also the live edit mode cursor is not visible. I can manually place objects just fine but the list doesn't work and live edit mode is pretty much unusable with the cursor missing
