Redundant copies across the world mostly. We talked about similar things a long time ago with cargo port. People raised the option of mirroring it and whether we should use BitTorrent for syncing and some crazy things. This might get us closer to duplicate copies being available. Also someone could consider then implementing pulling copies from mirrors since we have hashes for all the packages. (If you don't see value in this, close it. It was just an offhand thought)
