Reported by mebus via IRC, a broken /dev/sda partition by crashed Windows prevents the system from booting:

We should research what's the best way how to a) skip access to certain filesystems (like: bootignore=ntfs) and/or b) skip certain devices during bootup (like bootignore=/dev/sda)
