    server: {
      port: 5173,
      strictPort: true,
      hmr: {
        port: 5173,
      },
    },

This will crash browser on every background/index.js edit.
Didn't find any better option though.

This will crash browser on every background/index.js edit. Didn't find any better option though.

This option worked for me. Just when changing the background.ts file, the extension closes and you just need to open it again, but HMR works fine
