Landing page refers to unused blog and deprecated documentation

The landing page has a reference to a blog that has not had an update since 2011. It also has references to HEAD and 1.5 branch documentation. I don't know what the mechanism was for pushing this documentation to the website, but it appears to no longer be functional as current documentation is not available using the release pattern it was following.

Should we drop all of these from the website, or are there plans to resurrect any of this?

I'm also trying to figure out how to generate updated documentation.
