Install a OpenStack never been so easy as a packsack which build on top of Foreman which on top of Puppet. You just install openstack-packstack, and go

1

packstack --allinone

Since I’m using a RHEL instead of a CentOS (part of my superstition),it’s necessary to get rid of annoying RHN notification. I just delete all related packages:

1

yum remove -y rhn-check rhn-client-tools rhn-setup rhn-setup-gnome rhnlib yum-rhn-plugin rhnsd subscription-manager subscription-manager-gui subscription-manager-firstboot

Also, I accidentally installed a GUI, which means the NetworkManager is running, I have to disable it.

1
2

systemctl disable NetworkManager
systemctl stop NetworkManager

However, as the tradition of open source, there always some minor issues.
First of all, you should update the RHEL/CentOS to avoid dependency issues. But, even after using a EPEL7 repo, you will find you stuck on certain packages. In my case, it’s ruby(selling) as always, and selinux-policy / selinux-policy-targeted. After a system update, there’re python-greenlets, python-pygments, python-webob and python-webtest will stick on my way.

Then there’s a bummer: the mongoldb installed but failed to start. The output indicates that the forked child process failed to locate PID file. The google will tell you it’s a bug about correct directory and correct permission, however it’s not my case. I found the process is looking for /var/run/mongodb/mongod.pid, though the /etc/mongodb.conf shows the pid file name is /var/run/mongodb/mongodb.pid. So all you need to do is make sure /usr/lib/systemd/system/mongod.service and /etc/mongodb.conf have same setting about the filename.

Pretty much that will be it. You will soon got a OpenStack in pack with a nagios inside you can play with. :)
