Swig has been declared as not maintained by the owner.

Either we can:

  1. Fork swig and maintain ourselves.
  2. Replace swig and implement something else.

(Suggestions welcome)

I have started implementing handlebars.

Cool. Make sure any template language you go for supports component type including and importing as well. Swig is stable at the moment so we are not in hurry.
We can try as many approaches as possible. :)

ejs template engine is also a viable replacement.

not a priority, keep using swig until most important issues are done
