The tool basically does the same as Wikipedias built-in cite tool, e.g. see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:CiteThisPage&page=Industry_4.0&id=951608890&wpFormIdentifier=titleform#BibTeX_entry

I do not understand what the issue is. Two things can do the same thing. It's ok.

Well… it makes this one quite obsolete.

What you could do though is adjust this one here to support the newer BibLaTeX style with @online and date and urldate fields (instead of a note): https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T188854

I wrote this in 2013 to learn a bit of JavaScript, it was obsolete as soon as it was finished. 🙂

I have no idea why it became so popular.

Adding a link to the cite tool might help some people, so I'll accept that as an issue.
