VR Mode flashes on Nexus 5X and not on Pixel

@apuhub I opened and tested couple of projects on my Nexus 5X and I can't reproduce this issue. Check please the following:

1. Open Google Play and type "Google VR Services " in the search field. Check please that you have installed the latest version of this app.
2. Try to change the setting of VR mode (the gear in the top right of screen in VR mode)

I have google VR services installed. The VR mode appears in the bottom of the screen and only gives me two options.

@0la0 I know you made a fix that was supposed to help with this but we are still experiencing this on the nexus. are you able to reproduce the issue? @emilt27 is not...

@apuhub btw, could you try to open a few examples based on a-frame from there: https://aframe.io/examples/ on your nexus 5x and check is it work without flashing issue in VR mode?

• works on Pixel 2 (ali has one to test)
• works on Pixel 3 (aparna has one to test)
• works on random old iphone (vertex have one?)
• works on random old android (vertex has one?)
