Using AWS IMDSv2

As AWS is pushing more to the use of IMDSv2 as mechanism to get credentials using EC2 instance profile, is there any plans to adopt v2 as a new mechanism?

If so, any prevision about a timeline?
If not, what would you like to have to make this a priority?
