<p align="justify"><strong><u>To reach Mandi, Himachal Pradesh</u></strong>:</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>To reach Mandi by Air:</strong></p>
<p align="justify">The most convenient way to travel by air is via Chandigarh airport then take the Volvo bus from sector-43 bus stand Chandigarh. It is at the distance of 214 Kms and takes around 6 hours to reach IIT campus. Chandigarh is well-connected with non-stop flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore and direct flights from Kolkata and Chennai.</p>
<p align="justify">Two other nearby airports are Dharamshala airport, Gaggal which is around 150 Kms (3.5 hours) and Kullu airport, Bhuntar at the distance of 50 Kms (1.5 hours).</p>
<p align="justify"><strong><u>To reach Mandi by road:</u></strong> The usual travel route to Mandi is via Chandigarh from Delhi.</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>From Chandigarh: By bus/taxi:</strong></p>
<p align="justify">From Chandigarh, the Volvo/ordinary buses to Mandi are available at Sector 43 bus stand. one can catch buses towards Manali or Mandi. Usually, Volvo buses are running in the night from Chandigarh. <strong>Please visit <a href="http://hrtc.gov.in" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hrtc.gov.in</a> (Himachal Road Transport Corporation website) and <a href="http://Redbus.in" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Redbus.in</a>.</strong></p>
<p align="justify">The other choice from Chandigarh to Mandi is to travel by taxi. The distance between Chandigarh and Mandi is ~200 kms. This distance can be covered in approximately 6 hrs by bus. By taxi, it usually takes around 5 hrs.</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>From Delhi: By bus/taxi:</strong></p>
<p align="justify">From ISBT (Interstate bus terminal) platforms 6-8, Kashmiri Gate, Delhi, one can catch buses towards Manali or Mandi. These buses come mandi <strong>via Chandigarh</strong>. You can opt for different types of buses ranging from ordinary to deluxe to AC. For more details, <strong>please visit hrtc.gov.in (Himachal Road Transport Corporation website).</strong> Other state buses and private Volvo buses are also available. The road distance between Delhi and Mandi is ~475 km. It usually takes approximately 12 hrs (depending on traffic and other conditions) by bus. Travelling by taxi or personal vehicle reduces the journey time by nearly an hour.</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>By Train:</strong></p>
<p align="justify">The alternative to reaching Mandi from Delhi is to travel by train up to Kiratpur Sahib by Delhi-Una Himachal express (Train number 14553). It takes approximately 3.5 hrs to reach Mandi from Kiratpur by road. The Kiratpur Sahib railway station is very small and a bit far from the bus stand. All the buses coming from Delhi and Chandigarh towards Mandi, pass through Kiratpur Sahib. There are well-connected trains to Chandigarh from all parts of India.</p>
<p align="justify"><strong><u>To reach IIT Mandi’s Main campus from Mandi town</u></strong>:</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>By IIT bus</strong>: IIT Mandi’s shuttle buses regularly ply between Mandi and Kamand. The bus route starts from <strong>IIT old Campus</strong> (Mandav Block, above main bus stand, Mandi Town) to <strong>IIT Mandi Kamand campus</strong>.</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>By taxi</strong>: Taxis are stationed outside Mandi main bus stand 24 x 7. The cost of a one-way trip to the IIT campus is about Rs. 600/-</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>By HRTC bus</strong>: Himachal Road Transport Corporation/Local buses also ply between Mandi and Kamand. Please note that these buses sometimes can be crowded.</p>

<h5><strong>Parashar Lake</strong></h5>
<p>At a distance of 33 km, from IIT Mandi Kamand campus, and a altitude of about 8500 ft, at Parashar lake one can experience awe-inspiring panorama of the Himalayas. Surrounded by mountains, meadows, and near the clear water of the lake, one can witness a pagoda style three tiered temple by the lake. It makes for an excellent leisurely day-tour destination.</p>

<h5><strong>Barot Valley</strong></h5>
<p>On the banks of early parts of the Uhl river, Barot is a relatively less explored, niche and a great backpacker and day-tour destination, about 68 km away from IIT Mandi Kamand campus. Many walking and trekking trails pass through Barot. It is among the hidden treasures of Himachal because of which not much people know about it. The place is situated in valley sorrounded by thick deodar and oak forest. The sweet silence of the woods here engross the visitors.</p>

<h5><strong>MANALI</strong></h5>
<p>Manali is a high-altitude Himalayan resort town in India’s northern Himachal Pradesh state. It has a reputation as a backpacking center and honeymoon destination. Set on the Beas River, it’s a gateway for skiing in the Solang Valley and trekking in Parvati Valley. It’s also a jumping-off point for paragliding, rafting and mountaineering in the Pir Panjal mountains, home to 4,000m-high Rohtang Pass.</p>

<h5><strong>KULLU Valley</strong></h5>
<p>Kullu Valley is a broad open valley in Himachal Pradesh, India, formed by the Beas River between Manali and Largi. This valley is famous for its temples, beauty and its majestic hills covered with pine and deodar forest and sprawling apple orchards.</p>

<h5><strong>Rewalsar</strong></h5>
<p>Rewalsar Lake is place of spiritual importance, situated at 44 km from IIT Mandi Kamand campus. There is a Buddhist monastry and some Buddhist temples in Rewalsar, on hills sorrounding the lake. These are visited by several Buddhists, especially on the Tibetan New Year, thus making Rewalsar into a mini Buddhist colony. About 10 km from Rewalsar is situated the temple of Naina Devi, the approach to which is loaded with scenic views of the sorrounding hills and smaller lakes.</p>

<h5><strong>Janjheli and Tungasi Dhar</strong></h5>
<p>For the more adventurous souls, Tungasi Dhar is a Group of Hills near Janjelhi valley. A trek of appoximately 3 hours from Janjelhi leads to Tungasi top. There is a beautiful temple of Dev Tungasi on top of Tungasi. Hills are beautifully covered with thick forest of Deodar. However, please note that the way towards Tungasi dhar is not very well managed and visitors need to find it through the forest of Deodar & Rai / Taous.</p>

<h5>Pandoh dam and Hanogi Temple</h5>
<p>The Pandoh Dam is an embankment dam on the Beas River in Mandi district, on the way to Kullu. It is good transit spot to enjoy Beas river in its splendour serpentining among the sorrounding hills. A little further from Pandoh is the temple of Hanogi Mata on the Bean Banks, which is very popular among the locals.</p>

<h5><strong>Shikari Peak</strong></h5>
<p>Shikari Peak, also known as the Shikari Devi Peak, is the highest mountain peak in the district of Mandi. It is at a height of 11,500 ft above sea level and is a great place to trek. This peak is famous for the Shikari Devi temple.</p>

<h5><strong>Chindi</strong></h5>
<p>Chindi Hill Station is situated on a ridge of the Karsog Valley and is surrounded by mountains and dense pine and deodar forests. There are apple orchards and small temples situated near Chindi. It is also famous for rugs and handicraft items, available in the local market. It is about 80 km from Mandi, may take more than a single day for a proper visit.</p>
