Creating assignments fails for some users

Dear developer team,

sometimes the creation of activities of the type "task" fails for some users. They can no longer create tasks whereas new created users or other users are still able to create tasks.

If one disable the plugin "collabora submissions" all users may create activities of the type "task" again.

It would be great if you might resolve this issue.

Versions:

• Moodle: 3.9.x
• collabora submission: v3.1ß-r1

sorry for the long wait. But I don't really understand you problem :(.
Can you be a little more specific what do you mean?
What is a Task activity?
What happens while trying to create such an activity instance?
Can you please enable the debug mode and tell me the error message?

thanks for your response. I should have written "assignment" instead of "task". Sorry, my bad.

When a user tries to create a new assignment or tries to edit an existing one, he gets stuck on the "modedit.php" site. This problems occurs suddenly for some users and then persists. The debug mode shows no errors. As far as the administrator deactivates the plugin "assignsubmission_collabora", these users are able to create and edit assignments again.

when you say "gets stuck on the modedit.php", do you mean the click on "Save and..." does nothing or that the page starts loading but doesn't stop?
Can you tell me, what values are set in the "Adding a new Assignment" form especially in the "Submission types" section?

Hi Andreas,

the HTTP-Request is performed but the result is that you land on the same page again. The default settings are used, the required field is filled out. It makes no difference if settings are changed or which values are used.

Hi Andreas,
before I go into the code I would ask you to install the very last version of this Plugin and also the last version of mod_collabora.
There were lots of changes since then.
Maybe the problems vanish by itself ;).

same issue with mod_collabora v4.1-r1 (2022-11-24) 2022042002 and assignsubmission_collabora v4.1-r1 (2022-11-24) 2022042002.

I am really sorry, but I can not reproduce this behavior :(. I tried a lot with different users and settings. Everything runs fine on my environment.
The only chance I see is to do some debugging on your system where the error appears.

Good news: After purging all caches the new versions seem to solve the issue. I asked my users to report again if the issue should pop up again.

Hello.
I have the same problem. I am currently working with moodle 4.1.5. I have installed and updated the plugins:

mod_collabora v4.3.3 (2024-02-12)
assignsubmission_collabora v4.3.1 (2024-01-11)

When a teacher tries to create or edit an assignment the changes are not saved. Purging the caches did not work for me, after deactivating the plugin assignsubmission_collabora the teachers can work with the tasks correctly.

Note: Debug mode does not show any errors.
