This may requires a lot of work because it'll affect to many parts of lila. Maybe a quick solution now is only analyze your game in a study? With that you can save all of your variations + comments. |

Hello Lichess Community and Developers,
I am an avid player of correspondence chess and have come to appreciate the in-depth analysis tool provided by Lichess. Currently, the feature that allows players to save game variations operates via browser cache. This works well when using a single device, but it becomes a bit of a hurdle when switching between devices (for instance, an iPhone, MacBook, and PC).
The limitation here is that the saved variations are not accessible across different devices since they are stored locally on each device's browser cache. This means that if I analyze and save a variation on my PC, I cannot view that same variation on my MacBook or iPhone.
This brings me to my feature request: would it be possible to save these analysis variations in a user's database instead of in the browser cache? By doing so, the saved variations could become accessible across all devices a player uses to log in to their Lichess account. This feature would significantly enhance the user experience for correspondence chess players like me who often switch between devices.
It is worth noting that a similar feature is available on Chess.com for subscribed users. This feature requires users to manually click a save button to store variations. I believe that integrating this feature into Lichess would be a significant upgrade.
I would like to add that as a developer, I am willing to contribute to the implementation of this feature. Although I am not thoroughly experienced with the Lichess codebase, I would be more than happy to assist under the guidance of a more experienced developer.
Thank you for considering my request. I believe this feature would greatly benefit correspondence chess players who use multiple devices and like to analize their games.
