Looks like the current licence of the repository limits the usability of it in commercial applications. Is there a specific reason why it is licensed via GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 instead of MIT? Would help usability of the software if licensed via MIT. E.g I'm not sure if hosting on Replicate is feasible now.

Why not? You just have to open source modifications you make. Just because your app interacts with replicate to get results does not mean you need to open source your app which interacts with replicate. This would only apply if your app is considered derivative work.(Which is not the case if your app can run without the function and is only loosely coupled via cli or http...or even contained in a node module as long as you release the source of your node module, cli , replicate set up or whatever).
