In traditional desktop layout mode, the Mint software manager icon (mintinstall) and the Synaptic software manager icon are almost the same, which is confusing...

When switching from modern to traditional layout the default icon theme is switched from Mint-Y to Mint-X. You could switch your icon theme back to Mint-Y in Themes settings.

But yes, with Mint-X icon theme the difference between Software Manager and Synaptic icons is small:
Mint-X
Here are the same in Mint-Y:
Mint-Y

I don't like Mint Y (neither its icons), I only use Mint X like other people. On a 15'' screen laptop the difference between the icons is too weak and misleads the user. Using the Synaptic icon inherited from Debian would be a better solution I think. Regards.

The problem is present with mint-x-icons !!

Please assign a new icon at Synaptic Pakage Manager.

Look the print screan of xenopeek.

Software Manager & Synaptic Pakage Manager have almost the same icon.

On a 15'' screen laptop the difference between the icons is too weak and misleads the user.

Regards.
