I was just looking at the other issues and the general activity on his profile and this repository and it has definitely diminished in the last couple of months. Maybe he is also just taking a break.

Well, you can always try to come up with a fix yourself and open a PR if you manage to do it, else you can open an issue and maybe someone had the same issue and can help you. One issue I am also having is that the documentation for the crate is broken, making it a bit more complicated to check out things not documented on the website.
