InstallApplications was designed to work with MDMs that utilize the InstallApplication MDM command.

MDM's that currently support this out of the box/UI:

AirWatch
MicroMDM
SimpleMDM

MDM's that support replacing their agent installation:

FileWave

You can potentially use InstallApplications with other MDM's, however there may be race conditions/slow UX that is not conducive to custom DEP.
