Use the plugin to transform my voice into an instrument.
The idea was to try to sketch songs into a DAW using only my voice and the plugin.
Here's what happens.
Any noise picked up by the mic, even if it's barely audible in the raw audio, is transformed into a buzzing sound that is louder than my actual voice. The noise sounds like a bunch of mosquitoes. I tried to mess up with the plugin settings, but there was not much difference. The only thing that helps a bit is to turn down the microphone level down, but then I have to sing louder into the mic and the mosquito noises are still there and still louder than my actual voice.
The plugin is honestly unusable for my particular use-case at this point.
This happens with every instrument I tried, but is more pronounced the more out of the range of the instrument my voice is.
System Info
Windows 10
Reaper 6.64
Effects plugin v1.0.2
To Reproduce
Just hum into the mic with the plugin enabled and use any instrument.

The use case described by OP seems to be incredibly archetypal to this project if Magenta's goal really is to be an "an open source research project exploring the role of machine learning as a tool in the creative process," since 99% of all people could make music with the use case described by @martinmr.
