Problem: Mainline v4.0.0 web UI #442
Comments
Going by the C4 philosophy what I can say is that this problem is valid to the extent that users of Ecko need the v4.0.0 UI. By that measure, I think it's not such a big problem. There are many UIs so at this time I believe it's best to keep it simple as far as what this project might tackle. More broadly, there have been lots of changes since we had active development earlier this year. Forking is deceptively easy, and in this case, not only did we fork but we got on with some merging of upstream PRs and then solving a bunch of problems that were raised on the now defunct fediverse.town Discourse forum. Probably a good time to go through the issues list and close ones for which there's not been any activity for 6+ months. With a tighter set of issues, I can see it being easier for newcomers to add their own and provide solutions. |
Right -- apologies, still learning the C4 philosophy. I think if I want to talk about non-4.0.0-UI features, such as hashtag following, that should be in a different issue, right? |
Just want to push back a bit on my own Issue. Not everyone might like the v4 web UI. Perhaps a choice would be good but that might be hard to implement, or this community may only copy some elements of v4 over. Some complaints about v4 that I've heard:

Please state the bug, support or feature request in terms of a problem to be solved.
Mainline Mastodon is now in version 4.0.0, with a new UI. People may expect Ecko to have a similar UI (or at least, the choice for such a UI).
Some notable changes are the rules (now in a simple list), hashtag following, and there's no more /web/ prefix for the web app. I am surely missing a lot more changes.
