Bandwidth limitation in create_cold_standby.sh script #6125

Summary

Introduction of a parameter that limits the speed of rsync, for example to 50 MBit

Motivation

The motivation behind this is a current problem with our provider S..... The create_cold_standby script triggered an automatic outbound DoS attack.

It takes about 24 hours until the server is unblocked. Support from the provider was poor and whitelisting the target IP for this sync is not possible. The only solution according to support is to limit the sync to a low value.

Additional context

This is a support issue with your provider.

Anyway, open the script up and add the rate limit command to rsync. Just search for the word rsync in the script. You’ll find the relevant command eventually.
