That should allow purely declarative imports, as things are string IPython should be able to auto import them correctly.

It might be possible to have a shim that does the right things. I can give it a try for the shim.

The base16 builder generates dashed names by spec. I decided to go low tech, but you prefer to write some kind of import hook, don't you? Can that be done in a totally transparent way or should the hook be installed first (which would be not much better than importing a string)?
