It seems that registering an ActiveSync (aka Exchange) account for mail, contacts and calendar synchronization in Oreo / LOS 15.1 has been moved from the core system into Gmail. That would imply that any user of ActiveSync (which is good not only Microsoft Exchange, but also for open source groupware) would have to install GApps in order to keep syncing.
Is my observation correct and is there a path to avoiding that?
Regards,
Michael Schefczyk
