CircuitPython (and MP) support a REPL
https://learn.adafruit.com/welcome-to-circuitpython/the-repl

Access to the REPL is extremely handy for discovery of device and library capabilities.
And allows for adhoc learning and programming without saving to a file every time.

FYI: This works in the CircuitPython Extension from https://github.com/joedevivo/vscode-circuitpython
