I have a UI suggestion, if you don't mind!

What do you think of removing the "+" to add a new task and adding a text-box, either below or above the lists of tasks? Sort of like a messaging app, it has the messages (in this case we would have the tasks) and it has the place to write a new message, a text box (in this case it would be to write new tasks)..

It would make it so it's faster and simpler to add a new task. It would require 1 less click/press.

Would this be possible as an option?

Suggestions always welcome 💪!
Hm... On my smartphone, I am using a quick launcher icon to create a new task. Plus I like the add new task view, as it provides all the context, project, prio and due date buttons I need. Would probably miss them in your view?
What if tasks extend one page on your screen - display at the bottom always?
I am satisfied "as is". Anyone else?

I cannot really use a quick launcher icon in KISS, sadly (I think?). But regardless, that is not a substitute for my suggestion, I think. Having the whole adding/removing in the same place is functionally needed for me. I could create a new task using a quick launcher, but then I have to open simple-task to change it/do-it. It's bore-some.

No, I don't think you would miss them! On a messaging app, there are also buttons, for attaching and all that. You could still have the context, project, etc buttons. You could also just add them in an hamburger menu on the side of the textbox, as to not waste vertical space.

I don't understand this.. What do you mean?

Please don't take this suggestion the wrong way! I am also satisfied "as is". I have used SimpleTask for many years now. I just thought that it would look/function better with my suggestion.

I often just use my "Note to Self" messaging app (Signal) to create to-dos because it's just easier than going to Simple-Task. With my suggestion, I think it would just simplify the adding of tasks.

Thx for following up.

Clear to me now, as I did not get your point of the buttons in messaging apps, mea culpa.
As mentioned above, fine for me 😜. Does not mean any ranking here. I am just an ordinary user that wants to keep the discussion running.
Maybe one of the ST power users wants to add a comment..?
