Starter Tasks for Potential Contributors/Developers

Please contact me, Troy Raen ([email protected]), with questions and/or to discuss a task in more detail. I likely have more thoughts about it than what is written here.

• Refactor the broker's main GCP setup script into config file(s) that run with Workflows. The current script is in broker/setup_broker/setup_broker.sh (and other files which are called by this script).
• Refactor each module so that the service dependencies are defined in a separate config file. Currently they are defined at the top of the module's main script. The dependency information needs to be accessed both by the module's main script and the broker's main GCP setup script. (Use config files to name the resources used in modules/scripts #80)
• Change the testid keyword for production instances from False to None #97. The testid is appended to resource service names to distinguish production and testing services.
• Setup continuous integration using Terraform to update the production pipeline upon a PR merge to master branch. (If someone wants to pick this up, please coordinate with Pitt IT folks. They may be working on it already.)
• Port modules running on Cloud Functions to Cloud Run #159
• Refactor broker/broker_utils so that it is packaged and deployed with every pipeline module (module scripts will also need to be updated). This is currently published to PyPI, and the modules pull it from there.
• Update the python dependencies used by broker/broker_utils (Update broker_utils dependencies #113)
• Plan out the best way to accomplish Calculate DIA Object statistics  #102. (Particularly the table structure and how/when to update the table)
• Decide which Codacy settings/warnings we actually want. Turn off the ones we don't care about.
• Redesign night conductor #95
