I would like to change the bright blue color of the background to match the color of the command console, which is black (so it appears as if there is no added color), because the bright blue is straining my eyes.
If possible, I would suggest removing the colors of the boxes around the various texts and instead simply coloring the texts themselves (so instead of white text on a green background, green or yellow text).

Hi Mortycio - Thank you for the suggestion but I will not be changing the default colors the Universalator script uses, for several reasons.

  • It gives it a style that's easily identifiable
  • It's got a cool classic CLI look
  • The way that the colors can highlight important information is very useful to novice users who have trouble looking over... words and understanding critical elements
  • Many of the menus are much more easily interpreted with multiple color and highlighting options.

IMHO this fad with everyone using darkmode-everything is not a good idea. If you are experiencing eyestrain when using something like this, it's likely you are not properly backlighting the area you are looking towards on your monitor. Even a small desk lamp to illuminate the wall behind a work station can greatly reduce eyestrain. If everything is dark on a screen, or if the environment around / behind the monitor is dark - it will result in the pupils of your eyes staying dilated resulting in increased eyestrain.

If you want, you can play around with colors by editing the script file colors, which for the BAT file (windows) start on line 115, and the SH file (linux) line 40.
