I just chose MIT license without giving it much thought and then read the recent discussion about choosing a license for Docker, and it was decided to use Apache2 for these reasons: moby/moby#7 (comment)

I think having Apache2 will be better so that we don't have to collect contributor agreements for every little fix. And I like that there's some limited patent protection. Stay away patent trolls.
