The documentation states that emerging clades should be named by their major clade followed by the nucleotide mutation whereas commonly variants are named by their amino acid change. In addition the practice of appending a version number to the name (V1) isn't mentioned - see https://docs.nextstrain.org/en/latest/tutorials/SARS-CoV-2/steps/naming_clades.html
