Actually, this is what I do too with an HTML invitation page for XMPP;
I use the XMPP logo, because it is only of XMPP.
Yet, I suppose, that because there are many XMPP chat clients, then it
would be appropriate to have an icon for XMPP Web.
I also want XMPP Web to have an icon, so that it would be
distinguishable in the client list that is offered by the HTML
invitation page that I am working on.

Uh, I don't really understand the subject.
The application logo is the one used in the application.
When I want to chat, I look for my browser tab with the XMPP icon...
why would I want to change it? 😉
First idea
XMPP and HTML5.

Second idea
A lightbulb (Jabber) with a fishnet (Web)
