issues installing

I have run into a couple of issues installing on Win10 with calibre 6.15.1 portable.

1. README says to "Navigate to the unzipped DeDRM_tools folder, find the file "DeDRM_plugin.zip." Except this zip file doesn't exist in the zip file noDRM-DeDRM_tools-master.zip downloaded from the git page. The only zip file in that folder is "alfcrypto_src.zip."
2. So I zipped up the contents of C:...\Downloads\noDRM-DeDRM_tools-master\DeDRM_plugin with all of the py files. But when I try to select that zip when loading a plugin from a file option in Calibre, I get the error: ModuleNotFoundError: no module named __version.

I was skeptical this would be the fix, but not sure what else to try since I could not find the zip file specified in the README in the downloaded plugin zip file.

Unzip it and you'll see 2 plugins and 3 readmes. Load DeDRM_plugin.zip into calibre.

The latest KFX format cannot be decrypted. See this post for workarounds to get the older formats: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283371

So if the latest KFX format cannot (yet?) be decrypted, and amazon only allows the latest kindle (in my case anyway with the book in the example above) for desktop in order to download it (kindle 1.17 and 1.34 error out trying to download saying the apps needs to upgrade), then I cannot see how I can download the book in older awz (or similar) formats. Or am I missing something here?

If it was published this year, there is still method 3 (E-ink Kindle) and method 6 (older Kindle for Android).

@naphelge , could you try this fork? You would need to run "make_release.py" script in the unzipped _master.zip, then unzip the release and reinstall plugin from file. As I mentioned, it works for some KFX files downloaded by the latest Kindle (1.40), when used with KFX Input plugin (which you have).
