These are the notes I took from the first run through. Someone else giving the course will likely want to address these issues in some fashion.
Most importantly, the use of the Jupyter notebook was suboptimal. Tab completion and similar simply don't work as well as they do at the terminal. The up-arrow doesn't work at all. Likely cutting-and-pasting the commands into the terminal would be a better learning experience. (Alternatively, a series of script files that are opened by some form of linear terminal in which one must always start from the top may make a better learning experience, but that would need developing.)
The difference between single and double quotes was very unclear.
Similarly, the difference between relative and absolute paths needs explaining.
At least for working with BAND, it was unclear how to download a copy of the notebook changes. Having users install CyberDuck or similar on their laptops would allow pushing to then pulling from S3.
For the login to BAND at least on computer lab computers, extra time is needed for logging into Chrome.
There can be issues with rendering Zarr on Firefox in BAND. Try Chrome.
Get all students to create a post on image.sc (See "Hi my name is")
The use of "mc config host add" needs to be better explained.
