At this time, each release contains the list of files it provides, but not a generic identification of the version provided.

It will be very helpful if releases provide a simplified version (like 1.8.7 for any 1.8.7 release or 2.1 for any 2.1.x release)

Then, we can use this version to determine which releases to feature in the home page.
