Web2 moving to Web3

In my web2 startup(Ruby with classic email/password auth) that is moving into web3 we have following use-case:

• registering using wallet
• sign messages passed to backend using crypto wallet (

Is there a way to integrate wallet-connect with other languages (Ruby in our case) to authenticate messages signed by wallet on backend? Any tips on how to do it (interacting with relay server or something similar)
