During my travelling through the UI. I've found lots of popups where the fields are either completely empty (including units) or have some defaults with other fields still being empty.

for example:
adding a new target results in name being empty, but ra, dec and system being set to defaults.
adding a techincal goal popup has nothing defaulted at all.
adding observaton target has no fields defaulted.

is there scope for putting defaults in most of these fields?

it might be useful to have a set of defaults based on the observatory/instrument and they will likely be different for each
