There are some issues when running PiranhaGUI without an internet connection -

The version number for Piranha comes up as 'None' which makes it confusing (Piranha is installed and can be used, it just failed to get the version number)?

It would be good if there was a message on the startup window that says "no internet connection, can't check for updates"
