Would you consider changing the library's licensing from LGPL to a more permissive option, such as Apache, MIT, or BSD? Many projects have strict compliance guidelines that restrict the use of LGPL-licensed libraries. Permissive licenses would enable broader community engagement and ease of integration into projects with such restrictions.
Switching to a more permissive license could increase the library's adoption and community contributions. As the official driver implementation, obtaining a more widely accepted license is desirable.
