Summary

This is a vignette illustrating some basic concepts of network analysis using political campaign contribution data. I presented this material at Predictive Analytics World for Government on October 18, 2016.

Files

  • network.Rmd: main code that downloads Federal Election Commission data, uses it to create an igraph network of donors and recipients, visualizes the network, and generates some basic network analysis metrics
  • network.html: the resulting HTML generated from the R markdown file using RStudio
  • fec.R: the R code I worked from to produce the R markdown that I used for the presentation
