When a snap gets downloaded, it saves in the default folder for snaps as it should, but there is also another file created in the download folder with the exact same size, but it has no file extension therefore it can't be opened.

That's just download tag. The extensions are all fine. Actually android
downloader API requires a string as download file name.
Ignore it and head to /internal storage/Download/Snapmod
The files will work pretty fine there
