How is the synchronization of the desktop wallet so fast and doesn't take much space on a disk?
1) The desktop wallet only runs wallet backend locally and connects to a remote daemon, which has the whole blockchain stored.
2) The desktop wallet needs to store some data locally, but the new wallet is synchronizing just from the block, where the wallet was created.
3) By default, the wallet backend connects to a daemon running on our server closest to the wallet.
How is it possible to make the wallet work on mobile phones (compared to Monero which doesn't provide mobile wallet)?
The mobile wallet uses the wallet API that is included as a library, so it meets the mobile environment requirements.
We plan to use the library approach even for the desktop wallet, but it needs some more work.
How do the automatic desktop wallet updates work?
When the application starts, it checks for a new update. If a new version is available, the download and installation begin.
The installation can update both the wallet frontend and its backend. Our servers with the daemons are already updated prior to the wallet update notification.
Everyone can connect to any daemon instead of using our servers and in this case, we can use a feature that notifies daemons about the upcoming soft- or hard-forks (only if fork needed, usually not). By doing that we prevent backward incompatibility between wallet backend and daemon.
Network throughput
The maximum we have tried, was ~400 transactions every block (block sizes above 5MB) and it worked fine.
We removed some unnecessary blockers of the network throughput, but we still want to focus this area a lot, because we expect that the number of transactions will grow rapidly.
